Description

A combination of 1-1 rib, right and left stitches can be used to create a self-folding knitted fabric.

Instruction:

1

Cast on 40 needles with a 1-1 basic rib knit.

2

Knit 10 rows with both carriages in basic position .

3

Case number 1 : Self-Folding in one direction - needle diagram below.

4

Transfert stitches from main bed to ribber and from ribber bed to main following the previous diagram.

5

Keep on transfering.

6

When all transferts are done, don't forget to push to D position the needles which won't be used anymore. Knit.

7

Case number 2 : Self-Folding in two directions - needle diagram below. Use the same transfert technique as previously.

8

When all transferts are done, don't forget to push to D position the needles which won't be used anymore. Knit.

9

In order to cast off in a more comfortable way than playing between both beds, the first step is to transfer with the transfer needle all stitches from ribber bed to main bad. To make it easier it's possible to shift a little the ribber bed, so that needles from both beds are facing each other - don't forget to bring it to its initial position when you knit again.

10

Then knit 1 row and cast off as usual.
